Located on the north east shore of Caribou Lake, just three miles from downtown DeTour Village and the DeTour Passage, where the St. Mary's River meets Lake Huron on the eastern tip of Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
Nestled among tall trees surrounded with wildlife and abundant with fish, Caribou Lake is an all sports lake, open for fishing, water skiing and just lounging around. It holds perch, walleye, pike an bass. Almost 900 acres and shallow in most areas with a depth of 12 feet, it makes for a great swimming area as well. We offer over 400 foot of sandy beach frontage to enjoy.
Moosehead Lodging is removed from satellite connections and big-city distractions. Come join us to forget the daily grind.
Our 5 housekeeping cabins are completely furnished including fully equipped kitchens. Four are (2) bedroom, two of these cabins sleep six (sleeper sofa's in the living room) and we have one, one (1) bedroom. The mobile home on the hill, (included in the cabin's for rent) has two bedrooms. One with a queen bed and a twin bed, one bedroom with another twin and a pull out in the living room. We also have 4 full hook up RV sites.
Your cabin will have an automatic coffee maker, color TV, picnic table, and outdoor grill. Bed linens are supplied but bring your own bath towels and washcloths. RV sites have a beautiful view of the lake.
We have a large spacious lawn with swings, a sandy beach for swimmers and each cabin comes with the use of an aluminum boat. Motors can be rented on a daily or weekly basis. There is also a public access if you want to bring your own boat. (17' foot max at our dock) Watch beautiful sunsets out over the lake, relax by an open fire in the evenings and maybe even see the northern lights!
DeTour Village offers restaurants, gift shops, post office, a grocery store, churches, gas stations, bait & sporting goods supply, bank, museum and a laundry mat.
